1. Simulation Based Product Design in Engineering - Project Overview
Following a recent A4B funded Feasibility Study into the Transfer and Incorporation of Computational Simulation into Design and manufacturing, it was clear that Welsh manufacturing lags behind many of its UK and overseas competitors in the level of investment in and commitment to advanced design and manufacturing technologies.
Unless companies invest in Simulation Based Product Design technology now, their ability to compete in the world market and ultimately their survival will be severely compromised. At the same time, Swansea University is a world-renown centre for design simulation and therefore is in a prime position to provide the knowledge required to support the inclusion of SPBD within the design process.
The primary purpose of the Knowledge Transfer Centre in Simulation-Based Product Design of Engineered Products (located within CZEC) is to facilitate the necessary transfer of design simulation technology which is essential in order to stimulate and sustain the Welsh economy for our own and future generations.
